How does the stopover program work?
If you're transiting through Bole International Airport with 4+ hours, you can add a hotel stay, a curated tour, or both to your trip. Pick your layover length on the homepage, book in one checkout, and we'll send your voucher to your email.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes — most hotel bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before check-in. Tour bookings can be cancelled up to 24 hours before departure. Open the booking in 'My bookings' to see its exact cancellation policy.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Escorted group tours guarantee a return at least 90 minutes before your connecting flight. If a tour we operate causes you to miss a connection, Ethiopian Airlines will rebook you at no cost. Travel delay insurance is included.
Do I need a visa for a stopover?
Travelers from 100+ countries qualify for the Ethiopia e-Visa, which can be issued in minutes. Stopover passengers with a confirmed booking also get fast-track immigration processing — usually under 10 minutes at Bole.
How do I get a tourist SIM?
All stopover bookings include a complimentary Ethio Telecom tourist SIM with 5 GB of data, valid for 7 days. Pick it up at the dedicated counter just past immigration, or request an eSIM QR code before arrival from your confirmation email.
Can I book a room at the airport for a few hours?
Yes — the Skylight In-Terminal Hotel (97 rooms, airside) offers 4-hour day-use rooms perfect for short layovers. Filter by 'In-Terminal' on the hotels page to find it.
